The Translation Post Vol.1 Issue1

The Cancer KinomeTM

The Cancer KinomeTMhas been drawn after extensive search of public databases by Abgent Bioinformatics staff for the role of kinases in cancer. The phylogenetic tree illustrates the similarity between the protein sequences of the catalytic domains of the superfamily of 518 human protein kinases. The seven major groups are colored separately. 187 protein kinases (names labeled in black) were found to be specific for a variety of malignant tissues. The inset diagram on the top left corner shows the mRNA level of expression for 20 protein tyrosine kinases in six different malignant tissues.
