|Target/Specificity||ABD10021 recognises TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP43), a 43 kDa protein that is located in the nucleus. TDP43 is ubiquitously expressed in human tissue, with high levels detected in the lung, pancreas, spleen, placenta and genital tract. ABD10021 recognises the longer of the two TDP43 isoforms identified. TDP43 is transcriptional repressor protein that binds to chromosomally integrated TAR DNA and represses HIV-1 Transcription. Studies also suggest that TDP43 is involved in the regulation of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) splicing, probably through the association with UG repeats at the 3’ splice site. A pathologic form of TDP43 has also been identified, which is a major disease protein in ubiquitinated inclusions characteristic of a range of neurodegenerative diseases.|
