|Target/Specificity||Rabbit anti-Human ACTH antibody recognizes human adrenocorticotrophic hormone, also known as corticotrophin. ACTH is a 4.5kDa hormone derived from cleavage of pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC), produced in the pituitary gland in response to corticotrophin releasing hormone (CRH) activity and functions to stimulate release of adrenal cortisol. Rabbit anti-Human ACTH polyclonal antibody is directed against the N-terminal portion of adrenocorticotrophic hormone and also recognizes the ACTH cleavage fragment α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH), responsible for melanin pigmentation control in most vertebrate species (Fiordelisioet al.2006). Rabbit anti-Human ACTH does not recognize the C-terminal ACTH cleavage product, corticotropin-like intermediary peptide (CLIP).|
