|Target/Specificity||Rabbit anti-Human BACE1 antibody recognizes human b-site amyloid precursor protein (APP)-cleaving enzyme 1, BACE1, detecting an epitope near the N-terminal region. , BACE1, also known as Beta-secretase 1, Aspartyl protease 2 or Memapsin-2 is a 501 amino acid ~75kDa single pass, type I integral membrane glycoprotein and aspartic protease. BACE1 is a member of the peptidase A1 protein family, and is predominantly expressed in the trans golgi network (Yanet al.2001). BACE1 isexpressed by neurons and astrocytes in the brain (Sunet al.2002).BACE1 catalyzes the cleavage of beta APP at the extracellular, amino-terminal domain leading to the formation of amyloid beta peptide. Amyloid beta peptide is the major constituent of amyloid plaques in the brains of individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.|
