|Target/Specificity||Mouse anti Human CD268 antibody, clone 11C1 recognizes human Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 13C, also known as CD268, B cell activating factor receptor or BAFF-R. CD268 is a 184 amino acid ~20 kDa single pass type III transmembrane protein, a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family expressed by B cells. CD268 is highly expressed in the spleen and lymph nodes. CD268 plays a role in BAFF induced B cell development and survival, and is thought to be involved in, and may represent a biomarker for B cell related autoimmune diseases (Sellamet al.2007). CD268 promotes the survival of mature B cells and the B cell response (UniProt: Q96RJ3). CD268 contains a single TALL-1 binding domain required for binding to the TNF ligand TALL-1, also known as BAFF or CD257 (Liuet al.2003).CD268 deficiency is associated with adult onset antibody deficiency syndrome characterized by hypogammaglobunemia and poor immune response to antigenic insult (Warnatzet al.2009). CD268 is expressed on the surface of precursor pre-B acute myeloid leukemia cells (pre-B ALL Cells) but not on their normal pre-B cell counterparts and in an immuno-deficient mouse transplant model targeting of CD268 with a monoclonal antibody significantly enhanced natural killer cell-mediated killing of patient derived ALL cells (Parameswaranet al.2014).Mouse anti Human CD268 antibody, clone 11C1 has been successfully employed for the detection of CD268 in formalin fixed, paraffin embedded human tonsil by immunohistochemistry following antigen retrieval (Nget al. 2004).|
