Target/Specificity Mouse anti Mouse CD282 antibody, cloneT2.5 recognises CD282, also known as Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). Murine CD282 is a 784 (including a 24 amino acid signal peptide) amino acid ~90 kDa single pass type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein involved in the innate immune response to bacterial lipoproteins. It is expressed on smooth muscle, lung, spleen, thymus, brain and adipose tissue . CD282 interacts with LY96 to mediate the immune response to bacterial lipoproteins and other microbial cell wall components. It activates NF-kappa-B, via MyD88 and TRAF6, leading to cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response (UniProt: Q9QUN7). Mutation at amino acid 681 abolishes MYD88 binding and TLR2 responses to bacterial cell wall components (Underhillet al.1999). CD282 may also promote apoptosis in response to lipoproteins (Seimonet al.2010). Clone T2.5 has been reported to inhibit CD282-dependent cell activation in vitroandin vivo(Kirschninget al.2014).
