|Application ||WB, IHC, IP|
|Reactivity||Human, Mouse, Rat|
|Calculated MW||26266 Da|
|Application & Usage||Western blot analysis (0.5-4 µg/ml), Immunoprecipation (4-8 µg/ml), and Immunohistochemistry (10-20 µg/ml). Detects a 25 kDa protein, corresponding to the apparent molecular weight of the ⍺ isoform of Bcl-2 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots.|
|Other Names||BCL2, BCL 2|
|Formulation||100 µg (0.2 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit anti-Bcl-2 polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, 0.01% thimerosal.|
|Handling||The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.|
|Reconstitution & Storage||-20 °C|
|Precautions||Bcl-2 Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Suppresses apoptosis in a variety of cell systems including factor-dependent lymphohematopoietic and neural cells. Regulates cell death by controlling the mitochondrial membrane permeability. Appears to function in a feedback loop system with caspases. Inhibits caspase activity either by preventing the release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria and/or by binding to the apoptosis-activating factor (APAF-1).|
|Cellular Location||Mitochondrion outer membrane; Single-pass membrane protein. Nucleus membrane; Single-pass membrane protein. Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Single-pass membrane protein|
|Tissue Location||Expressed in a variety of tissues.|

Provided below are standard protocols that you may find useful for product applications.
Bcl-2 and its homologs belong to a family of proteins that either promotes or prevent apoptosis. Bcl-2 alpha and beta are the alternatively spliced isoforms of 25 kDa and 22 kDa mitochondrial integral membrane proteins that inhibit apoptosis.
