|Reactivity||Human, Mouse, Rat, Rabbit, Pig, Bovine|
|Calculated MW||82119 Da|
|Application & Usage||Western blotting (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. The anti-calpain I antibody recognizes the large subunit (80 kDa) of human Calpain 1. It does not recognize the smaller subunit of human Calpain 1.|
|Other Names||EC 22.214.171.124, CAPN2|
|Formulation||100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit anti-calpain 1 (large subunit) antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, and 0.01% thimerosal.|
|Handling||The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.|
|Reconstitution & Storage||-20 °C|
|Precautions||Calpain 1 Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Calcium-regulated non-lysosomal thiol-protease which catalyze limited proteolysis of substrates involved in cytoskeletal remodeling and signal transduction.|
|Cellular Location||Cytoplasm. Cell membrane. Note=Translocates to the plasma membrane upon Ca(2+) binding.|

Provided below are standard protocols that you may find useful for product applications.
Calpains are cytosolic, calcium-dependent, cysteine proteases that are ubiquitously expressed in mammalian and avian tissues. Type I calpain requires micromolar amounts of calcium, while type II calpain requires millimolar amounts of calcium.
