Precautions | Hsp105 Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | HSPH1 |
---|---|
Synonyms | HSP105, HSP110, KIAA0201 |
Function | Acts as a nucleotide-exchange factor (NEF) for chaperone proteins HSPA1A and HSPA1B, promoting the release of ADP from HSPA1A/B thereby triggering client/substrate protein release (PubMed:24318877). Prevents the aggregation of denatured proteins in cells under severe stress, on which the ATP levels decrease markedly. Inhibits HSPA8/HSC70 ATPase and chaperone activities (By similarity). |
Cellular Location | Cytoplasm. |
Tissue Location | Highly expressed in testis. Present at lower levels in most brain regions, except cerebellum. Overexpressed in cancer cells. |

Background
Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are ubiquitously expressed in all organisms. The HSPs fall into five general families: HSP105, HSP90, HSP70, the low molecular weight HSPs, and the immunophilins. The HSP105 (also called HSP110) family is composed of HSP105, Apg-1 and Apg-2. The HSP90 family consists of HSP90α, HSP90β and GRP94. The HSP70 family is comprised of HSP70, HSC70, GRP78 and GRP75. The low molecular weight HSPs includes HSP10, HSP25, HSP27 and HSP32. HSP56 and FKBP12 are immunophilins and bind to immunosuppressive dr µgs.
