|Application ||WB, IF, IP|
|Reactivity||Human, Mouse, Rat|
|Calculated MW||29804 Da|
|Application & Usage||Western blotting (0.5-4 µg/ml), immunoprecipitation (10-20 µg/ml) and Immunofluorescence (5-10 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. The antibody detects a 33 kDa protein, corresponding to the apparent molecular mass of Prohibitin on SDS-PAGE immunoblots, in samples from human, mouse and rat origins.|
|Other Names||PHB, phb|
|Formulation||100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, 0.01% thimerosal.|
|Handling||The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.|
|Reconstitution & Storage||-20 °C|
|Precautions||Prohibitin Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Prohibitin inhibits DNA synthesis. It has a role in regulating proliferation. As yet it is unclear if the protein or the mRNA exhibits this effect. May play a role in regulating mitochondrial respiration activity and in aging.|
|Cellular Location||Mitochondrion inner membrane.|
|Tissue Location||Widely expressed in different tissues.|

Provided below are standard protocols that you may find useful for product applications.
Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved protein that has anti-proliferative activity. Prohibitin is a 30 kDa, post-synthetically modified protein found in the inner membrane of mitochondria and on the plasma membrane of B cells. It mediates B cell mutation. Prohibitin Controls cell cycle in both transcriptional and post-translational mechanisms. Prohibitin is a potential tumor suppressor. Prohibitin gene mutations are correlated with the breast cancer development and/or progression in over 80%0f the cell lines analyzed.
