|Reactivity||Human, Mouse, Rat|
|Calculated MW||36627 Da|
|Application & Usage||Western blotting (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. The antibody recognizes ~33 kDa Ficolin-1 and a 37 kDa Ficolin-1 precursor in samples from human, mouse and rat origins. Reactivity to other species has not been tested.|
|Other Names||Flow cytometryN1 , Flow cytometryNM , ficolin 1|
|Formulation||100 µg (0.5 mg/ml) affinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, and 0.01% thimerosal.|
|Handling||The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.|
|Reconstitution & Storage||-20 °C|
|Precautions||Ficolin-1 Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Extracellular lectin functioning as a pattern- recognition receptor in innate immunity. Binds the sugar moieties of pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) displayed on microbes and activates the lectin pathway of the complement system. May also activate monocytes through a G protein-coupled receptor, FFAR2, inducing the secretion of interleukin-8/IL-8. Binds preferentially to 9-O-acetylated 2-6-linked sialic acid derivatives and to various glycans containing sialic acid engaged in a 2-3 linkage (By similarity).|
|Cellular Location||Secreted. Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Extracellular side. Note=Found on the monocyte and granulocyte surface.|

Ficolin-1 also known as M-Ficolin is a pattern recognition molecule of the lectin complement activation pathway. It is expressed mostly in monocytes, nuetrophils and in type II alveolar epithelial cells. Ficolin-1 is detected on the surface of circulating monocytes but is not present in the plasma. Ficolin-1 has a 28 aa signal sequence, an N-terminal collagen domain and a C-terminal fibrinogen-like (FBG) domain that contain a calcium binding site and a potential N-glycosylation site.
