|Calculated MW||21043 Da|
|Application & Usage||Western blotting (0.5-4 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. The antibody recognizes ~21 kDa Relaxin-2 in samples from human origins. Reaction to other species has not been tested. A ~100 kDa unknown band can also be detected.|
|Other Names||Relaxin2, Relaxin-2, Relaxin 2 , RLN2|
|Formulation||200 µg (0.5 mg/ml) purified rabbit polyclonal antibody in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) containing 30% glycerol, 0.5% BSA and 0.01% thimerosal.|
|Handling||The antibody solution should be gently mixed before use.|
|Reconstitution & Storage||-20 °C|
|Precautions||Relaxin-2 Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Relaxin is an ovarian hormone that acts with estrogen to produce dilatation of the birth canal in many mammals. May be involved in remodeling of connective tissues during pregnancy, promoting growth of pubic ligaments and ripening of the cervix.|
|Tissue Location||Isoform 1 is expressed in the ovary during pregnancy. Also expressed in placenta, decidua and prostate Isoform 2 is relatively abundant in placenta. It is in much lower abundance in the prostate gland. Not detected in the ovary|

Relaxin 2 is a peptide hormone produced by the copora lutea of the ovary during pregnancy in many mammalian species. It is secreted into the blood just before parturition to help facilitate the birth process. Like insulin, relaxin is a heterodimer of two peptide chains A and B that are covalently linked by disulfide bonds.
