|Application ||WB, E|
|Calculated MW||53900 Da|
|Other Names||BPI; bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein; BPIFD1; rBPI; BPI fold containing family D, member 1; CAP 57; bactericidal permeability-increasing protein; recombinant BPI holoprotein, rBPI|
|Format||Supplied at 0.5 mg/ml in Tris saline, 0.02% sodium azide, pH7.3 with 0.5% bovine serum albumin. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Minimize freezing and thawing.|
|Immunogen||Peptide with sequence C-KIPDYSDSFKIKH, from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_001716.2.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.|
|Precautions||Goat Anti-BPI Antibody (internal region) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||The cytotoxic action of BPI is limited to many species of Gram-negative bacteria; this specificity may be explained by a strong affinity of the very basic N-terminal half for the negatively charged lipopolysaccharides that are unique to the Gram-negative bacterial outer envelope. Has antibacterial activity against the Gram-nagative bacterium P.aeruginosa, this activity is inhibited by LPS from P.aeruginosa.|
|Cellular Location||Secreted. Cytoplasmic granule membrane Note=Membrane-associated in polymorphonuclear Leukocytes (PMN) granules.|
|Tissue Location||Restricted to cells of the myeloid series.|
