|Function||Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally.|
|Tissue Location||Highly expressed in fibroblasts, some expression in T- and B-lymphocytes, and little or no expression in Burkitt's lymphoma cell lines. Expressed in many hormone- independent mammary carcinoma cell lines|

Provided below are standard protocols that you may find useful for product applications.
This MAb reacts with a 58kDa protein identified as vimentin. It reacts with a non-hematopoietic epitope of vimentin and shows no cross-reaction with other closely related intermediate filament proteins (IFPā€™s) such as desmin, keratin, neurofilament, and glial fibrillary acid protein.ĀVimentin is ubiquitously expressed in mesenchymal cells such as fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and endothelium. Antibody against vimentin is useful as part of an antibody panel for differential diagnosis of tumors of unknown origin.ĀAb-2 does not react with leukocyte common antigen-positive tissues such as lymphomas and leukemias.
