Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein U-like protein 1 (HNRPUL1) is a nuclear RNA binding protein belonging to hnRNP family.(1) HNRPUL1 interacts with adenovirus type 5 (Ad5) E1B-55 kDa, BRD7, HRMT1L1, TP53, and TAP. As a basic transcriptional regulator, HNRPUL1 represses basic transcription driven by various virus and cellular promoters. In association with BRD7, HNRPUL1 activates glucocorticoid-responsive promoter transcription in the absence of ligand-stimulation. HNRPUL1 might play an important role in nucleocytoplasmic mRNA processing and transport (2). Due to alternative splicing, five different isoform of HNRPUL1 exist.
