|Application ||WB, FC, E|
|Calculated MW||17523 Da|
|Other Names||Transcription factor MafK, Erythroid transcription factor NF-E2 p18 subunit, MAFK|
|Target/Specificity||This MAFK antibody is generated from a mouse immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between amino acids from the human region of human MAFK.|
|Format||Purified monoclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein G column, followed by dialysis against PBS.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.|
|Precautions||MAFK Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Since they lack a putative transactivation domain, the small Mafs behave as transcriptional repressors when they dimerize among themselves (PubMed:9150357). However, they seem to serve as transcriptional activators by dimerizing with other (usually larger) basic-zipper proteins, such as NFE2, NFE2L1/NRF1, NFE2L2/NRF2 and NFE2L3/NRF3, and recruiting them to specific DNA- binding sites (PubMed:9150357, PubMed:8932385). Small Maf proteins heterodimerize with Fos and may act as competitive repressors of the NF-E2 transcription factor (PubMed:9150357).|
