|Application ||WB, IHC, E|
|Calculated MW||44998 Da|
|Description||BHMT: betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase. This protein is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. Defects in this gene could lead to hyperhomocyst(e)inemia, but such a defect has not yet been observed.|
|Immunogen||Purified recombinant fragment of BHMT expressed in E. Coli.|
|Formulation||Ascitic fluid containing 0.03% sodium azide.|
|Other Names||Betaine--homocysteine S-methyltransferase 1, 220.127.116.11, BHMT|
|Dilution||WB~~1/500 - 1/2000|
IHC~~1/200 - 1/1000
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.|
|Precautions||BHMT Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Involved in the regulation of homocysteine metabolism. Converts betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. This reaction is also required for the irreversible oxidation of choline.|
|Tissue Location||Found exclusively in liver and kidney.|
