PrecautionsCLIC6 Antibody (Center) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Protein Information
Name CLIC6
Synonyms CLIC1L
Function May insert into membranes and form chloride ion channels. May play a critical role in water-secreting cells, possibly through the regulation of chloride ion transport (By similarity).
Cellular Location Cytoplasm. Cell membrane; Single-pass membrane protein Note=Predominantly cytoplasmic. Upon chloride ion efflux from the cell, it is translocated to the plasma membrane (By similarity)
Tissue Location Expressed in brain, placenta, pancreas and liver.

Background

CLIC6 is a member of the chloride intracellular channel family of proteins. The gene is part of a large triplicated region found on chromosomes 1, 6, and 21. An alternatively spliced transcript variant has been described, but its biological validity has not been determined.
