|Application ||WB, E|
|Other Accession||Q8HXG8, NP_001032367.1, NP_114144.3|
|Calculated MW||65674 Da|
|Antigen Region||71-100 aa|
|Other Names||Beta, beta-carotene 9', 10'-oxygenase, B-diox-II, Beta-carotene dioxygenase 2, BCO2, BCDO2|
|Target/Specificity||This BCDO2 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 71-100 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human BCDO2.|
|Format||Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.|
|Precautions||BCDO2 Antibody (N-term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Asymmetrically cleaves beta-carotene at the 9',10' double bond resulting in the formation of beta-apo-10'-carotenal and beta-ionone. Besides beta-carotene, lycopene is also oxidatively cleaved. The apocarotenals formed by this enzyme may be the precursors for the biosynthesis of retinoic acid or exert unknown physiological effects.|
|Tissue Location||Highly expressed in retinal pigment epithelium. Also expressed in stomach, small intestine, liver, testis, kidney, adrenal gland, pancreas, heart, skeletal muscle and prostate (at protein level).|
