UDP-glucuronate decarboxylase (UGD; EC 184.108.40.206) catalyzes the formation of UDP-xylose from UDP-glucuronate. UDP-xylose is then used to initiate glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis on the core protein of proteoglycans.
