Other Names | Centromere protein O, CENP-O, Interphase centromere complex protein 36, CENPO, ICEN36, MCM21R |
Target/Specificity | This CENPO antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 42-69 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human CENPO. |
Dilution | WB~~1:1000 |
Format | Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification. |
Storage | Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Precautions | CENPO Antibody (N-term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. |
Name | CENPO |
---|---|
Synonyms | ICEN36, MCM21R |
Function | Component of the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex, a complex recruited to centromeres which is involved in assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. May be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres via its interaction with the CENPA-NAC complex. Modulates the kinetochore-bound levels of NDC80 complex. |
Cellular Location | Nucleus. Chromosome, centromere. Chromosome, centromere, kinetochore. Note=The CENPA-CAD complex is probably recruited on centromeres by the CENPA-NAC complex |

Background
CENPO is a subunit of a CENPH (MIM 605607)-CENPI (MIM 300065)-associated centromeric complex that targets CENPA (MIM 117139) to centromeres and is required for proper kinetochore function and mitotic progression (Okada et al., 2006 [PubMed 16622420]).
