|Predicted||Bovine, Zebrafish, Mouse|
|Calculated MW||23663 Da|
|Antigen Region||180-206 aa|
|Other Names||Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 18, Mediator complex subunit 18, p28b, MED18|
|Target/Specificity||This MED18 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 180-206 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human MED18.|
|Format||Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.|
|Precautions||MED18 Antibody (C-term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Mediator is recruited to promoters by direct interactions with regulatory proteins and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors.|

MED18 is a component of the Mediator complex, which is a coactivator for DNA-binding factors that activate transcription via RNA polymerase II (Sato et al., 2003 [PubMed 12584197]).[supplied by OMIM].
