Other Names Astrotactin-2, ASTN2, KIAA0634
Target/Specificity This ASTN2 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 220-248 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human ASTN2.
Dilution WB~~1:1000
Format Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.
StorageMaintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
PrecautionsASTN2 Antibody(N-term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Protein Information
Name ASTN2
Synonyms KIAA0634
Function Mediates recycling of the neuronal cell adhesion molecule ASTN1 to the anterior pole of the cell membrane in migrating neurons. Promotes ASTN1 internalization and intracellular transport of endocytosed ASTN1 (By similarity). Selectively binds inositol-4,5- bisphosphate, inositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate and inositol-1,3,4,5- tetrakisphosphate, suggesting it is recruited to membranes that contain lipids with a phosphoinositide headgroup (Ref.6).
Cellular Location Membrane {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}; Multi- pass membrane protein {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}. Perikaryon {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}. Cytoplasm, cell cortex {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}. Early endosome {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}. Late endosome {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}. Cytoplasmic vesicle, clathrin-coated vesicle {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}. Cytoplasmic vesicle {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}. Note=Integral membrane protein not detected at the cell membrane. Detected in cytoplasmic vesicles in the cell cortex, close to the anterior pole of migrating neurons. Detected at the base of the leading process in migrating neurons {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q80Z10}

Background

This gene encodes a protein that is expressed in the brain and may function in neuronal migration, based on functional studies of the related astrotactin 1 gene in human and mouse. A deletion at this locus has been associated with schizophrenia. Multiple transcript variants encoding different proteins have been found for this locus.
