  • FC - (Mouse) Shh Antibody (C-term) AP21097a
Flow cytometric analysis of Hela cells using (Mouse) Shh Antibody (C-term)(green, Cat#AP21097a) compared to an isotype control of rabbit IgG(blue). AP21097a was diluted at 1:25 dilution. An Alexa Fluor® 488 goat anti-rabbit lgG at 1:400 dilution was used as the secondary antibody.
  • WB - (Mouse) Shh Antibody (C-term) AP21097a
Western blot analysis of lysate from mouse liver tissue lysate, using Shh Antibody (C-term)(Cat. #AP21097a). AP21097a was diluted at 1:1000. A goat anti-rabbit IgG H&L(HRP) at 1:10000 dilution was used as the secondary antibody. Lysate at 20ug.

Other Names Sonic hedgehog protein, SHH, HHG-1, Sonic hedgehog protein N-product, Sonic hedgehog protein 19 kDa product, Sonic hedgehog protein C-product, Sonic hedgehog protein 27 kDa product, Shh, Hhg1
Target/Specificity This Mouse Shh antibody is generated from a rabbit immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 397-431 amino acids from the C-terminal region of mouse Shh.
Dilution FC~~1:25
WB~~1:1000
Format Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is purified through a protein A column, followed by peptide affinity purification.
StorageMaintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Precautions(Mouse) Shh Antibody (C-term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Protein Information
Name Shh
Synonyms Hhg1
Function Intercellular signal essential for a variety of patterning events during development: signal produced by the notochord that induces ventral cell fate in the neural tube and somites, and the polarizing signal for patterning of the anterior- posterior axis of the developing limb bud. Displays both floor plate- and motor neuron-inducing activity. The threshold concentration of N-product required for motor neuron induction is 5-fold lower than that required for floor plate induction. Activates the transcription of target genes by interacting with its receptor PTCH1 to prevent normal inhibition by PTCH1 on the constitutive signaling activity of SMO.
Cellular Location Sonic hedgehog protein C-product: Secreted, extracellular space. Note=The C-terminal peptide diffuses from the cell
Tissue Location Expressed in a number of embryonic tissues including the notochord, ventral neural tube, floor plate, lung bud, zone of polarizing activity and posterior distal mesenchyme of limbs. In the adult, expressed in lung and neural retina

Background

Binds to the patched (PTC) receptor, which functions in association with smoothened (SMO), to activate the transcription of target genes. In the absence of SHH, PTC represses the constitutive signaling activity of SMO. Also regulates another target, the gli oncogene. Intercellular signal essential for a variety of patterning events during development: signal produced by the notochord that induces ventral cell fate in the neural tube and somites, and the polarizing signal for patterning of the anterior-posterior axis of the developing limb bud. Displays both floor plate- and motor neuron-inducing activity. The threshold concentration of N-product required for motor neuron induction is 5-fold lower than that required for floor plate induction (By similarity).
