|Application ||IHC-P, WB, IF, FC, E|
|Other Accession||P84173, Q3T165|
|Calculated MW||29804 Da|
|Antigen Region||89-117 aa|
|Other Names||Prohibitin, PHB|
|Target/Specificity||This PHB antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 89-117 amino acids from the Central region of human PHB.|
|Format||Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is prepared by Saturated Ammonium Sulfate (SAS) precipitation followed by dialysis against PBS.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.|
|Precautions||PHB Antibody (Center) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Prohibitin inhibits DNA synthesis. It has a role in regulating proliferation. As yet it is unclear if the protein or the mRNA exhibits this effect. May play a role in regulating mitochondrial respiration activity and in aging.|
|Cellular Location||Mitochondrion inner membrane.|
|Tissue Location||Widely expressed in different tissues.|

Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved protein that is ubiquitously expressed. It is thought to be a negative regulator of cell proliferation and may be a tumor suppressor. Mutations have been linked to sporadic breast cancer. Prohibitin is expressed as two transcripts with varying lengths of 3' untranslated region.
