UCK2 Antibody (N-term)

Purified Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody (Pab)

  • WB - UCK2 Antibody (N-term) AP7192a
Western blot analysis of anti-UCK2 Antibody (N-term)(Cat.#AP7192a) pre-incubated with and without blocking peptide (BP7192a) in Hela cell line lysate. UCK2(arrow) was detected using the purified Pab.

  • IHC-P - UCK2 Antibody (N-term) AP7192a
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human cancer tissue reacted with the primary antibody, which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. BC = breast carcinoma; HC = hepatocarcinoma.

Target/Specificity This UCK2 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 1-30 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human UCK2.
Dilution WB~~1:1000
IHC-P~~1:50~100
Format Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide. This antibody is prepared by Saturated Ammonium Sulfate (SAS) precipitation followed by dialysis against PBS.
StorageMaintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 2 weeks. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
PrecautionsUCK2 Antibody (N-term) is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Protein Information
Name UCK2
Synonyms UMPK
Function Phosphorylates uridine and cytidine to uridine monophosphate and cytidine monophosphate (PubMed:11306702, PubMed:11494055). Does not phosphorylate deoxyribonucleosides or purine ribonucleosides (PubMed:11306702). Can use ATP or GTP as a phosphate donor (PubMed:11306702). Can also phosphorylate cytidine and uridine nucleoside analogs such as 6-azauridine, 5-fluorouridine, 4- thiouridine, 5-bromouridine, N(4)-acetylcytidine, N(4)-benzoylcytidine, 5-fluorocytidine, 2-thiocytidine, 5-methylcytidine, and N(4)- anisoylcytidine (PubMed:11306702).
Tissue Location According to PubMed:8812458; testis-specific. According to PubMed:11306702, placenta-specific

Background

UCK2 catalyzes the phosphorylation of uridine monophosphate to uridine diphosphate. This is the first step in the production of the pyrimidine nucleoside triphosphates required for RNA and DNA synthesis. In addition, an allele of this gene may play a role in mediating nonhumoral immunity to Hemophilus influenzae type B.
