Protein Information
Name arnt2 {ECO:0000312|ZFIN:ZDB-GENE-001207-3}
Function Transcription factor that plays a role in the development of the hypothalamo-pituitary axis. Specifically recognizes the xenobiotic response element (XRE) (By similarity). Isoform 1 acts as a transcriptional activator (PubMed:11072074). Isoform 3 acts as a transcriptional repressor (PubMed:10960127, PubMed:11072074).
Cellular Location Nucleus.
Tissue Location Isoform 1 and isoform 2 are most highly expressed in the brain, eye and skeletal muscle and to a lower degree in liver, heart, kidney and swim bladder. Isoform 3 is most highly expressed in the eye, forebrain, midbrain, hindbrain, skeletal muscle, gills and brain but is barely detectable in liver, heart, kidney and swim bladder. Before the pharyngula period isoform 3 is expressed throughout the entire embryo and during this period extensively in the brain and eye EMBL; AF219987; AAG25919.1; -; mRNA EMBL; AF219988; AAG25920.1; -; mRNA EMBL; AF219989; AAG25921.1; -; mRNA EMBL; AF155066; AAF73280.1; -; mRNA RefSeq; NP_571749.1; NM_131674.1 UniGene; Dr.81424; - ProteinModelPortal; Q9DG12; - SMR; Q9DG12; - STRING; 7955.ENSDARP00000110276; - PaxDb; Q9DG12; - PRIDE; Q9DG12; - GeneID; 64277; - KEGG; dre:64277; - CTD; 9915; - ZFIN; ZDB-GENE-001207-3; arnt2 eggNOG; ENOG410IQ5Q; Eukaryota eggNOG; ENOG410XS5S; LUCA HOGENOM; HOG000234380; - HOVERGEN; HBG000164; - InParanoid; Q9DG12; - KO; K15589; - PhylomeDB; Q9DG12; - PRO; PR:Q9DG12; - Proteomes; UP000000437; Unplaced GO; GO:0005737; C:cytoplasm; IEA:InterPro GO; GO:0005634; C:nucleus; IC:UniProtKB GO; GO:0005667; C:transcription factor complex; IEA:InterPro GO; GO:0003677; F:DNA binding; IEA:UniProtKB-KW GO; GO:0003700; F:DNA binding transcription factor activity; IDA:UniProtKB GO; GO:0046982; F:protein heterodimerization activity; NAS:UniProtKB GO; GO:0007411; P:axon guidance; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0007420; P:brain development; ISS:UniProtKB GO; GO:0003208; P:cardiac ventricle morphogenesis; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0098609; P:cell-cell adhesion; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0021536; P:diencephalon development; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0071542; P:dopaminergic neuron differentiation; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0021979; P:hypothalamus cell differentiation; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0072576; P:liver morphogenesis; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0007275; P:multicellular organism development; NAS:UniProtKB GO; GO:0045893; P:positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated; IPI:ZFIN GO; GO:0006355; P:regulation of transcription, DNA-templated; IDA:UniProtKB GO; GO:0001666; P:response to hypoxia; IDA:UniProtKB GO; GO:0007165; P:signal transduction; IDA:UniProtKB GO; GO:0048798; P:swim bladder inflation; IMP:ZFIN GO; GO:0006351; P:transcription, DNA-templated; IEA:UniProtKB-KW GO; GO:0021591; P:ventricular system development; IMP:ZFIN CDD; cd00083; HLH; 1 CDD; cd00130; PAS; 2 Gene3D; 4.10.280.10; -; 1 InterPro; IPR011598; bHLH_dom InterPro; IPR036638; HLH_DNA-bd_sf InterPro; IPR001067; Nuc_translocat InterPro; IPR001610; PAC InterPro; IPR000014; PAS InterPro; IPR035965; PAS-like_dom_sf InterPro; IPR013767; PAS_fold InterPro; IPR013655; PAS_fold_3 Pfam; PF00010; HLH; 1 Pfam; PF00989; PAS; 1 Pfam; PF08447; PAS_3; 1 PRINTS; PR00785; NCTRNSLOCATR SMART; SM00353; HLH; 1 SMART; SM00086; PAC; 1 SMART; SM00091; PAS; 2 SUPFAM; SSF47459; SSF47459; 1 SUPFAM; SSF55785; SSF55785; 3 TIGRFAMs; TIGR00229; sensory_box; 1 PROSITE; PS50888; BHLH; 1 PROSITE; PS50112; PAS; 2 1: Evidence at protein level; Activator; Alternative splicing; Complete proteome; DNA-binding; Nucleus; Reference proteome; Repeat; Repressor; Transcription; Transcription regulation CHAIN 1 737 Aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator 2 /FTId=PRO_0000239938 DOMAIN 78 131 bHLH. {ECO:0000255|PROSITE- ProRule:PRU00981} DOMAIN 149 221 PAS 1. {ECO:0000255|PROSITE- ProRule:PRU00140} DOMAIN 340 406 PAS 2. {ECO:0000255|PROSITE- ProRule:PRU00140} DOMAIN 413 456 PAC.
