|Other Names||N-lysine methyltransferase SMYD2, 211-, HSKM-B, Histone methyltransferase SMYD2, Lysine N-methyltransferase 3C, SET and MYND domain-containing protein 2, SMYD2, KMT3C|
|Target/Specificity||The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP1044b was selected from the C-term region of human SMYD2. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.|
|Format||Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Protein-lysine N-methyltransferase that methylates both histones and non-histone proteins, including p53/TP53 and RB1. Specifically methylates histone H3 'Lys-4' (H3K4me) and dimethylates histone H3 'Lys-36' (H3K36me2). Shows even higher methyltransferase activity on p53/TP53. Monomethylates 'Lys-370' of p53/TP53, leading to decreased DNA-binding activity and subsequent transcriptional regulation activity of p53/TP53. Monomethylates RB1 at 'Lys-860'.|
|Cellular Location||Cytoplasm, cytosol. Nucleus|
