Background
Three different forms of human pancreaticprocarboxypeptidase A have been isolated. The encoded proteinrepresents the A2 form, which is a monomeric protein with differentbiochemical properties from the A1 and A3 forms. The A2 form ofpancreatic procarboxypeptidase acts on aromatic C-terminal residuesand is a secreted protein.
