Background
The gene is a member of the syntaxin family. The encodedprotein is targeted to the apical membrane of epithelial cellswhere it forms clusters and is important in establishing andmaintaining polarity necessary for protein trafficking involvingvesicle fusion and exocytosis. Alternative splicing results inmultiple transcript variants.
