Background
This gene encodes a member of von Willebrand factor Adomain containing protein family. This family of proteins isthought to be involved in the formation of filamentous networks inthe extracellular matrices of various tissues. This proteincontains two von Willebrand factor A domains; it is present in thecartilage extracellular matrix and has a role in the developmentand homeostasis of cartilage and bone. Mutations in this generesult in multiple epiphyseal dysplasia.
