|Other Names||Protein Wnt-16, WNT16|
|Target/Specificity||The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13222b was selected from the C-term region of WNT16. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.|
|Format||Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Ligand for members of the frizzled family of seven transmembrane receptors. Probable developmental protein. May be a signaling molecule which affects the development of discrete regions of tissues. Is likely to signal over only few cell diameters (By similarity).|
|Cellular Location||Secreted, extracellular space, extracellular matrix|
|Tissue Location||Isoform Wnt-16b is expressed in peripheral lymphoid organs such as spleen, appendix, and lymph nodes, in kidney but not in bone marrow. Isoform Wnt-16a is expressed at significant levels only in the pancreas|

The WNT gene family consists of structurally related geneswhich encode secreted signaling proteins. These proteins have beenimplicated in oncogenesis and in several developmental processes,including regulation of cell fate and patterning duringembryogenesis. This gene is a member of the WNT gene family. Itcontains two transcript variants diverging at the 5' termini. Thesetwo variants are proposed to be the products of separate promotersand not to be splice variants from a single promoter. They aredifferentially expressed in normal tissues, one of which (variant2) is expressed at significant levels only in the pancreas, whereasanother one (variant 1) is expressed more ubiquitously with highestlevels in adult kidney, placenta, brain, heart, and spleen.
