Target/Specificity The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13736b was selected from the C-term region of MBL2. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Format Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
StorageMaintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.
PrecautionsThis product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Protein Information
Name MBL2
Synonyms COLEC1, MBL
Function Calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. Binds mannose, fucose and N-acetylglucosamine on different microorganisms and activates the lectin complement pathway. Binds to late apoptotic cells, as well as to apoptotic blebs and to necrotic cells, but not to early apoptotic cells, facilitating their uptake by macrophages. May bind DNA.
Cellular Location Secreted.
Tissue Location Plasma protein produced mainly in the liver.

This gene encodes the soluble mannose-binding lectin ormannose-binding protein found in serum. The protein encoded belongsto the collectin family and is an important element in the innateimmune system. The protein recognizes mannose andN-acetylglucosamine on many microorganisms, and is capable ofactivating the classical complement pathway. Deficiencies of thisgene have been associated with susceptibility to autoimmune andinfectious diseases.
