This gene encodes a member of a family of cytosolicphosphoproteins expressed exclusively in the nervous system. Theencoded protein is thought to be a part of the semaphorin signaltransduction pathway implicated in semaphorin-induced growth conecollapse during neural development. Alternative splicing results inmultiple transcript variants.
