|Other Names||Suppressor of cytokine signaling 6, SOCS-6, Cytokine-inducible SH2 protein 4, CIS-4, Suppressor of cytokine signaling 4, SOCS-4, SOCS6, CIS4, SOCS4|
|Target/Specificity||The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP14118a was selected from the N-term region of SOCS6. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.|
|Format||Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||SOCS family proteins form part of a classical negative feedback system that regulates cytokine signal transduction. May be a substrate recognition component of a SCF-like ECS (Elongin BC-CUL2/5-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex which mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins (By similarity). Regulates KIT degradation by ubiquitination of the tyrosine-phosphorylated receptor.|

The protein encoded by this gene contains a SH2 domain anda CIS homolog domain. The protein thus belongs to thecytokine-induced STAT inhibitor (CIS), also known as suppressor ofcytokine signaling (SOCS) or STAT-induced STAT inhibitor (SSI),protein family. CIS family members are known to becytokine-inducible negative regulators of cytokine signaling. Theexpression of this gene can be induced by GM-CSF and EPO inhematopoietic cells. A high expression level of this gene was foundin factor-independent chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) anderythroleukemia (HEL) cell lines.
