|Other Names||Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II subunit alpha, CaM kinase II subunit alpha, CaMK-II subunit alpha, Camk2a|
|Format||Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||CaM-kinase II (CAMK2) is a prominent kinase in the central nervous system that may function in long-term potentiation and neurotransmitter release. Member of the NMDAR signaling complex in excitatory synapses it may regulate NMDAR-dependent potentiation of the AMPAR and synaptic plasticity. Phosphorylates transcription factor FOXO3 on 'Ser-298' (By similarity). Activates FOXO3 transcriptional activity (PubMed:23805378).|
|Cellular Location||Isoform Alpha KAP: Cytoplasm. Cell junction, synapse, presynaptic cell membrane Cell junction, synapse. Note=Postsynaptic lipid rafts.|
|Tissue Location||Isoform Alpha CaMKII is expressed in brain while isoform Alpha KAP is expressed in skeletal muscle|
