The protein encoded by this gene interacts withmicrotubules and is functionally associated with beta-amyloidprecursor protein transport and/or processing. The beta-amyloidprecursor protein is a cell surface protein with signal-transducingproperties, and it is thought to play a role in the pathogenesis ofAlzheimer's disease. This gene has been found to be highlyexpressed in breast cancer. Multiple polyadenylation sites havebeen found for this gene.
