Background

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to thethrombospondin family. Thrombospondin family members are adhesiveglycoproteins that mediate cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrixinteractions. This protein forms a pentameric molecule linked by asingle disulfide bond. This gene shares a common promoter withmetaxin 1.
