Myosin is a hexameric ATPase cellular motor protein. It iscomposed of two myosin heavy chains, two nonphosphorylatable myosinalkali light chains, and two phosphorylatable myosin regulatorylight chains. This gene encodes a myosin alkali light chain that isfound in embryonic muscle and adult atria. Two alternativelyspliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have beenfound for this gene.
