|Other Names||PAX3- and PAX7-binding protein 1, GC-rich sequence DNA-binding factor 1, PAXBP1, C21orf66, GCFC, GCFC1|
|Target/Specificity||The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP1953c was selected from the Center region of human GCFC. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.|
|Format||The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Synonyms||C21orf66, GCFC, GCFC1|
|Function||Adapter protein linking the transcription factors PAX3 and PAX7 to the histone methylation machinery and involved in myogenesis. Associates with a histone methyltransferase complex that specifically mediates dimethylation and trimethylation of 'Lys-4' of histone H3. Mediates the recruitment of that complex to the transcription factors PAX3 and PAX7 on chromatin to regulate the expression of genes involved in muscle progenitor cells proliferation including ID3 and CDC20 (By similarity).|

Provided below are standard protocols that you may find useful for product applications.
Partial homology to a transcriptional repressor and histone-interacting protein suggests that GCFC is involved in the regulation of transcription. it GCFC binds to the GC-rich sequences (5'-gcggggc-3') present in the epidermal growth factor receptor, beta-actin, and calcium-dependent protease promoters.
