Background
This gene encodes a glycosylated phosphoprotein with aleucine zipper motif, two helix-loop-helix motifs (I repeats) thatare similar to domains found in the TFII-I family of transcriptionfactors, one CHARLIE8 transposable element-like sequence, and a BEDzinc finger. This gene lies within a region that is deleted inWilliams-Beuren syndrome. Alternatively spliced variants whichencode different protein isoforms have been described; however, notall variants have been fully characterized.
