Synthetic peptide

Product Information
Primary Accession P62256
Other Accession NP_874356
Clone Names 3061809
Additional Information
Gene ID 7328
Other Names Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 H, UbcH2, Ubiquitin carrier protein H, Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2-20K, Ubiquitin-protein ligase H, UBE2H
Target/Specificity The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP2122b was selected from the C-term region of human UBE2H . A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Format The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
StorageMaintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.
PrecautionsThis product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Protein Information
Name UBE2H
Function Accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. In vitro catalyzes 'Lys- 11'- and 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitination. Capable, in vitro, to ubiquitinate histone H2A.

The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s. UBE2H is a member of the E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family. The encoded protein sequence is 100% identical to the mouse homolog and 98% identical to the frog and zebrafish homologs, which indicates that this enzyme is highly conserved in eukaryotes.
