|Other Names||Profilin-1, Epididymis tissue protein Li 184a, Profilin I, PFN1|
|Target/Specificity||The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP2837c was selected from the Center region of human PFN1. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.|
|Format||Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Binds to actin and affects the structure of the cytoskeleton. At high concentrations, profilin prevents the polymerization of actin, whereas it enhances it at low concentrations. By binding to PIP2, it inhibits the formation of IP3 and DG. Inhibits androgen receptor (AR) and HTT aggregation and binding of G-actin is essential for its inhibition of AR.|
|Cellular Location||Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton.|
|Tissue Location||Expressed in epididymis (at protein level).|

PFN1 is a ubiquitous actin monomer-binding protein belonging to the profilin family. It is thought to regulate actin polymerization in response to extracellular signals. Deletion of PFN1 gene is associated with Miller-Dieker syndrome.
