PTK9 Antibody (N-term) Blocking peptide

Synthetic peptide

Product Information
Primary Accession Q12792
Other Accession Q6NUK9
Clone Names 6031653
Peptide ID 6031653
Additional Information
Gene ID 5756
Other Names Twinfilin-1, Protein A6, Protein tyrosine kinase 9, TWF1, PTK9
Target/Specificity The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP7198a was selected from the N-terminal region of human PTK9. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Format The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
StorageMaintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.
PrecautionsThis product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Protein Information
Name TWF1
Synonyms PTK9
Function Actin-binding protein involved in motile and morphological processes. Inhibits actin polymerization, likely by sequestering G-actin. By capping the barbed ends of filaments, it also regulates motility. Seems to play an important role in clathrin-mediated endocytosis and distribution of endocytic organelles (By similarity).
Cellular Location Cytoplasm. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Note=Diffuse cytoplasmic localization with perinuclear and G-actin-rich cortical actin structures sublocalization. Also found at membrane ruffles and cell-cell contacts (By similarity).
Tissue Location Expressed at high levels in the colon, testis, ovary, prostate and lung. Expressed at lower levels in the brain, bladder and heart. Not detected in liver

Twinfilin, an actin monomer-binding protein conserved from yeast to mammals. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this protein may be an actin monomer-binding protein, and its localization to cortical G-actin-rich structures may be regulated by the small GTPase RAC1.
