|Other Names||Amine oxidase [flavin-containing] B, Monoamine oxidase type B, MAO-B, MAOB|
|Target/Specificity||The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP7496a was selected from the N-term region of human MAOB. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.|
|Format||Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C.|
|Precautions||This product is for research use only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Catalyzes the oxidative deamination of biogenic and xenobiotic amines and has important functions in the metabolism of neuroactive and vasoactive amines in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. MAOB preferentially degrades benzylamine and phenylethylamine.|
|Cellular Location||Mitochondrion outer membrane; Single-pass type IV membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side|

MAOB belongs to the flavin monoamine oxidase family. This protein is a enzyme located in the mitochondrial outer membrane. The protein catalyzes the oxidative deamination of biogenic and xenobiotic amines and plays an important role in the metabolism of neuroactive and vasoactive amines in the central nervous sysytem and peripheral tissues. The protein preferentially degrades benzylamine and phenylethylamine.
