|Calculated MW||26820 Da|
|Application & Usage||The peptide is used for blocking the antibody activity of Anti-Smac/Diablo. It usually blocks the antibody activity completely in Western blot analysis by incubating the peptide with equal volume of antibody for 30-60 minutes at 37°C.|
|Other Names||Diablo homolog, mitochondrial, Direct IAP-binding protein with low pI, Second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase, Smac, Diablo, Smac|
|Formulation||50 µg (0.5 mg/ml) in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 50% glycerol, 1% BSA and 0.02% thimerosal.|
|Reconstitution & Storage||-20 °C|
|Precautions||Smac/DIABLO Blocking Peptide is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Promotes apoptosis by activating caspases in the cytochrome c/Apaf-1/caspase-9 pathway. Acts by opposing the inhibitory activity of inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAP). Inhibits the activity of BIRC6/bruce by inhibiting its binding to caspases (By similarity).|
|Cellular Location||Mitochondrion. Note=Released into the cytosol when cells undergo apoptosis|
|Tissue Location||Highest expression found in heart, liver, kidney and testis.|
