Other Names:
SUMO-activating enzyme subunit 1; Ubiquitin-like 1-activating enzyme E1A; SAE1; AOS1; SUA1; UBLE1A
Application Data:
SAE1 Antibody (C-term)

Western blot analysis of anti-SAE1 Pab (Cat. #AP2011b) in mouse lung tissue lysate. SAE1 (Arrow) was detected using purified Pab. Secondary HRP-anti-rabbit was used for signal visualization with chemiluminescence.

SAE1 Antibody (C-term)

Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human cancer tissue reacted with the primary antibody, which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated. BC = breast carcinoma; HC = hepatocarcinoma.

Background:
The dimeric enzyme acts as a E1 ligase for SUMO1, SUMO2, SUMO3, and probably SUMO4. It mediates ATP-dependent activation of SUMO proteins and formation of a thioester with a conserved cysteine residue on SAE2.
