|Target/Specificity||Recombinant Human MMP-3 Antigen produced in E. coli represents human MMP-3 (matrix metalloproteinase 3) containing the entire catalytic N-terminal domain and C-terminal domain. MMP-3 is otherwise known as stromelysin-1, a member of a family of secreted zinc-dependent endoproteases, playing a role in the degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) components, including collagens, laminin, basement membrane glycoprotein and fibronectin. MMP-3 is implicated in wound repair, and tumor initiation, and studies have shown high expression of MMP-3 by monocytes, and that MMP-3 is also expressed by microglial cells, chondrocytes, and by fibroblast-like synoviocytes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis.|
