NOG1 is a nuclear GTP-binding protein present in eukaryotes ranging from trypanosomes to human. It is required fro biogenesis of the 60S ribosomal subunit and is involved in regulating guanosine triphosphate-dependent nuclear events that are associated with cell proliferation and that are important in normal renal function and essential for growth and development (1).
