|Target/Specificity||A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in human TNNT2 was used as an immunogen.|
|Format||50 mM Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 0.15 M NaCl, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% sodium azide and 0.05% BSA.|
|Storage||Maintain refrigerated at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20°C in small aliquots to prevent freeze-thaw cycles.|
|Precautions||TNNT2 Antibody is for research use only and not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.|
|Function||Troponin T is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of troponin, the thin filament regulatory complex which confers calcium-sensitivity to striated muscle actomyosin ATPase activity.|
|Tissue Location||Heart. The fetal heart shows a greater expression in the atrium than in the ventricle, while the adult heart shows a greater expression in the ventricle than in the atrium. Isoform 6 predominates in normal adult heart. Isoforms 1, 7 and 8 are expressed in fetal heart. Isoform 7 is also expressed in failing adult heart|

The troponin complex is located on the thin filament of striated muscle and is composed of three component polypeptides: troponin T (TNNT1; TNNT2), troponin I (TNNI1; TNNI2; TNNI3), and troponin C (TNNC) (1). Troponin T type 2 (TNNT2) is a cardiac troponin T isoform expressed in the human heart, that is essential for calcium-regulated myofibrillar ATPase activity (2). Troponin T (TnT) anchors the complex to the thin filaments in vertebrate striated muscle, and functions as a regulatory system for muscle contraction in response to changes to intracellular calcium ion concentration (3). All subunits of Tnnt2 have been associated with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) (4).
